WHAT IS FISSURES

Fissure Specialist Doctor in Mumbai

An anal fissure is a tear line on the anus or anal canal. An anal fissure may occur when you pass hard stools during the bowel movement. In small cases, an anal fissure can be treated within 4 to 8 weeks by therapy but a chronic fissure which is mostly more than 10 weeks may require surgery. Fissures are extremely painful with minimal bleeding. Anal fissures are mostly seen in infants but can affect people of any age. Chances of anal fissure decrease as age increases. People who had fissures are more likely to experience them again. Dr Roy Patankar is a highly experienced Fissure Specialist Doctor in Mumbai.

There are two types of fissures

  • Primary fissures: These are non-threatening and short-lived, reasons for primary fissures are hard stools, chronic diarrhoea, recurring trauma or anal intercourse.
