Stress explained by Dr Purnima D'sa

Stress

Stress is the way our body reacts to being under pressure leading to physical, emotional & psychological changes.

Acute stress: where there is a trigger & one is constantly  upset on account if it, unable to concentrate & loses sleep & in a state of anxiety & fear.

Episodic acute stress:  stress occurs in episodes especially in people who take on more responsibilities & are disorganized & feel overwhelmed.

Chronic stress:  people who always live in a state of anxiety & any task outside their comfort zone gets them tensed.

Stress is a part of life. Unfortunately, people want immediate gratification & positive results. Unable to take No for an answer or accept failure resulting in them giving up on life which is one of the major cause of increased no of suicides especially in younger generation.

Stress causes a lot of somatic issues like acidity, headaches, body aches, fatigue, decreased concentration, lowered immunity leading to increased infection & sickness

Stress cannot be avoided but can be dealt with keeping oneself positive and looking for solutions to problems faced. Healthy disciplined lifestyle, regular exercise, meditation, yoga, music, hobbies , recreational activities, spending quality time with family & friends regularly are ways to combat stress.
